Surprisingly discover Underwater Statues, A Volkswagen Beetle, A Helicopter, A Pair of Motorcycles, A Fishing vessel and much more wreck dive sites in Anilao Batangas

Anilao Batangas while mostly known as a Macro Photography dive destination globally has some more surprises up it's sleeve. Not everyone likes just looking for tiny critters and most seasoned divers have outgrown two hour dives and shun at the prospect of looking at creatures the size of rice.

While I'm one diver who outgrew the fascination for macro biodiversity, I've compiled several dive sites for underwater tourists who want to explore more of Anilao beyond creatures you can hardly make out with the naked eye and they're probably living in them so they serve as macro bonuses to a bigger picture.

Below is a compilation of Ten Wreck sites in Anilao which I'm sure some of you are quite familiar with already plus some new and other old ones which you probably haven't heard about yet till now.

1. Daryl Laut

Once a floating casino along Maricaban waters, the bare metal structure lies in 60 feet of water and is now home to several fish species and an awesome site for macro photography

2. Helicopter Wreck

Located 18 meters underwater, this is one more reason to visit the house reef of Monte Carlo Anilao dive Resort

9. Apostles Underwater

Dive Philippines, Scuba Diving Philippines, Underwater Photography Philippines, PaparazSea, Jun V Lao, Learn Scuba Dviing iin the Philippines
A new addition to structures added in Anilao, You can find statues (aptly named Apostles because that was the theme obviously used by the artists who brought them down) pleasantly clad in coral fronting Paradiso resort and close to Nap Sack scuba resort in the Mainit area of Anilao

10.  Cathedral Anilao

Dive Philippines, Scuba Diving Philippines, Underwater Photography Philippines, PaparazSea, Jun V Lao, Learn Scuba Dviing iin the Philippines
Cathedral dive site can be found in front of Eagle Point resort Anilao where a cross and a tiny castle rests at 18 meters of water. The site explodes in color with an abundance of soft and hard corals juxtaposed schools of fishes.

Wrecks or Artificial structures are actually very cool to the underwater environment. They provide a platform where corals may propagate while serves as housing for various species of fish and hundreds of tiny critters. Next time someone asks you to dive Anilao for some macro photography, do share to them that there are actually sites which can provide fun and memorable photographic opportunities with friends beyond shooting tiny animals.

If anyone knows more about the history of the wrecks and artificial structures shared here, plus know the person or team who put them down and the reason, do email me at PaparazSea@gmail.com. I would want to expand on the selection adding the story and the people behind these brilliant structures so they may be attributed and acknowledged properly for their labor of love.
