One of the first underwater photography websites I got hooked into was Cathy Church's (around 2006), a cool site which showcased her fantastic images and trips from the Cayman Islands, plus a byline on her website which shared "discover two hour diving with us", how can we not get hooked to that. Discover more about Cathy at her site

Every photographer has sure to have seen "Alice In Waterland", probably the most popular underwater visual narrative on the planet. The whimsical visual prose with her daughter Sasha is just timeless, artful and a breath of fresh air which transcends beyond the underwater photography world. Her latest works are still about 'her now teenage Alice' in the Bahamas, check out her latest at her site...
Ellen is probably the Top Ocean Wildlife photographer at the moment. She has currently bagged every major underwater photography award on the planet since 2013 and her images with Big fish, Shoals and Over Under Wildlife are simply over the top.  Beyond her wins, she is the most followed lady underwater photographer on 500px Simply super talented and an artist, see her amazing ocean wildlife images at her site..

Indra's work has been around when all of us were wearing diapers. I stumbled upon her immense contributions at Nudipixel around 2007 (last count 1,434 images) which was the go to site for underwater photography in the mid early 2000's. Having Four books under her name and numerous published images on the most respected magazine titles on earth, she has inspired a lot of underwater photographers in Asia and probably the top woman photographer in her home country Indonesia. Follow her amazing work at the following site..

Lynn was undoubtedly the underwater photographer which made the Sheep Nudi a worldwide viral sensation. While many took the image of this nudibranch first, her perspective caught the world by storm and its probably the most shared nudibranch photo in history while setting the benchmark for super macro underwater photography. She shoots with Jim, a lovely couple which reminds me so much of Dave and Debbie Henshaw, another inspiring underwater couple tandem who were around when all of us were still wearing diapers. Discover Lynn and Jim's awesome images here, they just keep getting better and better and better and they keep winning and winning and winning, and they are nice nice people, huge bonus

Nadia Ally is living the dream. An awesome underwater photographer who not only shoots amazing ocean wildlife moments but is more popularly known as the founder of Scuba Diver Life, the Top Scuba Diving news portal on the planet. I have been following the progression of Scuba Diver life from its humble beginnings in 2011 to the giant that it is today.  While most of us photographers chose to waste time showing off images on Facebook and gossiping over messenger, she was building a scuba empire. Most of us have to work or scrape for a living to go diving, but Nadia gets to have her cake and eat it too. I'd love to dive with her one of these days, and hoping for a topside lengthy conversation about SEO and trips

Sarah Lee came to us crashing like a giant wave creating ripples so wide its hard to forget her mind blowing images. With the crystal blue waters and the waves of Hawaii as her backdrop coupled with hot surfer chicks in bikinis, how can we top such imagery.  The slice of ocean life has been captured differently by Sarah, and thats what made her so popular the world over, surfer or not. Revisit her site (coz I'm pretty sure you've been to it already)...

Sherry Hsu

Sherry hails from Taiwan and we've been missing her photos. One of the first to rock Facebook with her amazing macro photography works from Lembeh Indonesia and Anilao Philippines, her images inspired a whole new perspective about macro photography and sparked a legion of followers. I dove with many photographers in my lifetime as a guide and had the honor to have gone diving with Sherry, where to me is one of the best, authentic shooters out there why she is on this list...she is the Real Deal. I'm pretty sure she'll be back in the water pretty soon. Check out her Facebook page here

Suzan is without a doubt one of the Queens of Marine Life Behaviour Photography. She's the only photographer on the planet where I bought a book from. (Under the Bridge) where her image of of Pike Blenny about to strike stuck to me like super glue. I've stumbled upon her work in 2009 and got lured in by the line "Specializes in Dangerous Sea life" and I was hooked ever since. See her amazing marine life behavior images and more currently her black water sojourns at her site

Zena Hollaway

Zena is the the queen bee when it comes to fashion and the ad world. Her images have consistently been tapped by advertising agencies for brand name clients while her underwater portraits have graced prestigious fashion magazines so many times. There is no lady in the underwater world who can claim success in fashion and commercial underwater photography as much as Zena

While there are hundreds (probably thousands) more amazing women underwater photographers out there, this list was influenced greatly by search engines etched with enduring narratives which struck me on a personal level,  plus Sherry who really made a mark on me a whole lot while going diving with her. Perhaps its time to share your story from a more unique slant perhaps, we are all waiting for a good one and something which will sweep us of our feet.
